Real Ones | Week 3 | Worship is What We Do
But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. John 4:23
1. Worship Isn’t Limited to a segment of People
Romans 1:21–25 (NIV)
“For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.”
2. Worship Isn’t Limited to a segment of Life
Matthew 6:33 (NIV) — “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
3. True Worship is a whole Life Response
John 4:19–24 (NIV)
“Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
4. Why does Worship Matter?
- Because you become what you worship
Psalm 115:2
1 Not to us, Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
2 Why do the nations say,
“Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever pleases him.
4 But their idols are silver and gold,
made by human hands.
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see.
6 They have ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.
7 They have hands, but cannot feel,
feet, but cannot walk,
nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them
- Because You Only Get one shot
Isaiah 42:5
“This is what God the Lord says—
the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out,
who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it,
who gives breath to His people,
and life to those who walk on it.

here we go, real ones. Are there any real ones in the house? I thought so. I thought so. I know you were expecting pastor sean and you're disappointed, but so sorry he is over at union houston. Who's a friend of ours? Uh, pastor rod and sarah are close friends of pastors and mine. In fact, they wrote one of the very first church checks to this church when we were in pre-launch. They're about 10 years old, so a few steps ahead of us, and Pastor Rod came and preached at First Wednesday a couple of months ago and he said okay, it's your turn, you have to come preach at my house, and so that's where he is this morning. So you get mama today, and so we're going to have a good time.
Speaker 1:I really honestly, if we're just going to be real honest together, I feel like the Lord has a word for you, especially you. This service was on my heart all week long. The Lord knows exactly what you need, and so let's pray. Lord Jesus, we, just we. Thank you. Your presence is already here. You have already done work in this house. You have already changed hearts and lives and marriages and relationships, but we want to go deeper. It's time to go deeper and we ask that you would open our hearts, open our ears, open our eyes, that we would see and true repentance would come. In Jesus' name, amen.
Speaker 1:So Pastor Sean talked about worship is a lifestyle, and then he talked about how worship is a weapon, and today I want to give you four truths that will prove to you that worship is what we do, whether we want to or not, and so our theme scripture is John 4, 23,. But the time is coming, indeed, it's here now when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him in that way. He is looking for those in spirit and in truth. He is looking for the real ones, and I know through the last few weeks we have fought so hard to tell you that worship is not just the first 15 minutes of every service. But I thought, you know, if we're still going to stay in that mindset, we should have a little training of how you know some things we should do in the first 15 minutes of the service, and so maybe you are a rookie worshiper, so I thought this is what you should do. So these are worship movements.
Speaker 1:If you're not so comfortable to do, you know the full Pastor, sean. I don't know if you've seen him, but this is a rookie. So the elbow flap you got the elbow flap, gary, is this the one? This one for you? How about the carry the TV? So what you don't know is all the Relate students do this. You just can't see them because it's under the chair. It's a covert praise, it's just covert praise.
Speaker 1:And then you know, maybe you're not a rookie, you're an intermediate. You want to go a little deeper? I like this one because it's the Mufasa immediate. You want to go a little deeper? I like this one because it's the Mufasa. Don't get mad at me, I'm African, remember, it's true. Ask a friend. So true, don't be, don't be upset, act like it's 2019. It's fine, everything's fine. I also like this one because my fish was this big fish Fish. This is actually Kenny Whitlow does this. This is my fish, he's my friend, I can pick on him. Maybe you're not intermediate, you're not rookie, you're more of a pro. Right, alvin, you're a pro.
Speaker 1:Been in church a long time, you do these. I like the pointer and the hatchet. Pointer hatchet, it's a good move. It's a solid, solid move, especially when you're holding your coffee. See, it works. I also like the goalpost and the heartburn. You gotta put the face with it. That means you're really worshiping. If you got the face, it's a good one.
Speaker 1:Okay, so you're an expert. You're moving up, sean. You're moving up to the expert level. Here's the experts the village people. You're really not going to sing with me? Wow, I thought we were friends.
Speaker 1:Jeez Louise, how about the touchdown? That's the pastor, sean, see, but worship's not just about singing and it's not what you do with your arms. It's a life response, it's your whole life, and I know what you're thinking, pastor Angie. I don't sing. I mean, I sing in the shower and in the car, but I'm not like Pastor Jason. I can't get up here and just bellow. Nobody asked you to. So hopefully, over the next few minutes, we'll have four truths that will teach you that worship is not what you can do, it is what you do.
Speaker 1:The first truth is worship is not limited to a segment of people. Pastor Angie, it's not my thing. In fact, I come in 15 minutes late so I don't have to hear my wife sing. I heard you say that that was rude. I come 15 minutes late because I don't know what to do with my arms. We already went over that. It's not limited to the ones who stand on the stage and on the front row. It's not limited to the ones that carry the banners and the tambourines. Have you ever been to a church like that? That's fun. Worship is what we do In Genesis, we were made from dust and breath.
Speaker 1:For what purpose? To worship. Because he wanted a friend. He wanted someone to worship him and see.
Speaker 1:In Romans, the whole culture had taken a left turn away from God, and I can prove to you that worship is what humanity was built to do. Because even in the moments where they took a left turn away from God, they still found something to worship. Look Romans 1 21,. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Now this is 2000. I'm not a scientist. It's a long time ago, but it sounds like right now. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools. You know anybody like that. Don't point fingers. And nobody looked to the left. You know anybody like that Don't point fingers and nobody look to the left. They exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal human beings and birds and animals and reptiles, and phones and laptops and friends, blank, add yours. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the creator. Even when humanity walked away from God, they had to worship something, because worship is not just for perfect children, the best car. What have you exchanged? The worship of God for you see, you reflect what you stare at. Of God for you see, you reflect what you stare at.
Speaker 1:A couple of weeks ago, we were hanging out in the truck and I was scrolling on my phone. Don't judge me, it happens. He was driving and all of a sudden he goes Ange, look, I'm like what? What? Because the man drives aggressively and we could have been in a car wreck. Right then I don't know what's happening. I look up, terrified, and he goes the moon. This is when I had to choose to be nice, because my heart is out of my chest. It's sitting in my lap now. Oh, the moon, it's nice. Yes, thank you honey. No, look, look how big it is. Okay, it's a lovely moon, but the man has always liked the moon. Maybe it's his name, mooney.
Speaker 1:So now that we're in our forties and we've been married a long time. We're empty nesters. We do this fun thing where we go down a Google search and he says, look it up. Let's look up everything about the moon, figure out why it reflects, and I'm like I was watching a cat fall off a fence. I was busy.
Speaker 1:For the next 25 minutes I'm Googling, we are chat, gpting, we are learning all the things about the moon against my will, thank you. I was like you know what? Pull over, I'll drive you Google. I'll give you two seconds to decide if that worked or not. Never.
Speaker 1:Anyway, we learned in our Google search of the moon that the moon has no light of its own, that the moon has no light of its own, that it's covered in shiny dust called regolith. I know this now. Now you have to know it. We all know it, against our will. You're welcome.
Speaker 1:Regolith is like glitter and whatever the moon is facing, it reflects. When it faces the sun, you can see it and, depending on the atmosphere, is where you get the red moon, the blue moon, the purple moon, the polka dot moon, all the fun moons that Sean loves and I learn about, and when I was studying for this lesson, I started thinking we are dust and whatever we look at, we reflect. And when we stop looking at the sun and we start looking at the earth, we still reflect what we're looking at. And so when you reflect what you stare at when you're staring at Jesus, you reflect his glory, but when you stare at the world, you reflect chaos.
Speaker 1:I know the idea of worship seems weird and the idea of exchanging God for something else is weird, but honestly, it's what we do. I saw a clip this week that literally made my stomach hurt and I thought I'm going to show all my friends. Made my stomach hurt and I thought I'm going to show all my friends. Why not? Right, because it proves that when you remove God from the situation, humanity will still worship. Watch this.
Speaker 2:I wonder what it feels like. I will never know, since I cannot sing one thing, but what it feels like to be on stage with a sea of people. A sea of people. One of the things that has impressed me in putting the pieces together for you is all around the world, the response to you is so incredible. I just wanted to for the rest of you in the world who haven't seen how people respond to Michael Jackson, to take a look.
Speaker 3:He waved to me and he said Hello, happy new year.
Speaker 1:Okay, okay, that's enough of that. Does any of that look familiar to you? Did you see the touchdowns? Did you see the rocking of the babies? Did you see the crying? They're worshiping. It's in their very fiber. Now, you don't.
Speaker 1:I understand Michael Jackson, whatever, and Oprah is maybe not, but the thing is, is anybody? But if it was, uh, ozzy Osbourne, people have been, people have been crying over him for weeks, guys. People have been crying over him for weeks, guys, people I didn't even know knew him. We're like, oh, he's dead. I'm like I'm so sorry. Was he your uncle? No, did you ever go to a concert? No, I'm like I apologize that he's gone. I don't know how to help you. You never met the man. What about Beyonce? Have you gone to a Beyonce concert? Raise your hands, jump around. Nobody look around. How about President Trump? It's very quiet. How about President Obama? There you go, anything. Take MJ out of the picture. Take Oprah out of the picture. Take Oprah out of the picture. Put anybody there.
Speaker 1:Humanity was built to worship and when you remove God, they exchange the holy for the profane. The question isn't am I a worshiper? The question is, what am I worshiping? Maybe it's fame, maybe it's likes. Maybe it's money, maybe it's. Maybe you worship fear that you got to hold things so tight because you're terrified if you let go, it'll all fall apart. Maybe it's anxiety. Oh, I'm just anxious. Oh, I'm just anxious. Oh good, speak that over your life Bunch of times. Go ahead, say it over and over. Maybe it's a marriage. If I could just get married, if I could just get married. Let me just tell you, I've been married 26 years. It's not all roses. Don't tell him. I said that I will know. But if you look at someone else's prayer life, well, if I could just pray like Pastor Gayla hey, that woman prays like that because of the things she's been through. You don't want to be like that. Maybe you're so focused on what you want to look like and you're not focused on what you're becoming. You are worshiping. Worship is not just for some. People are worshiping. Worship is not just for some people.
Speaker 1:My second truth for you today is worship is also not limited to a segment of life. Worship is not limited to Sunday mornings. It's not limited to when your favorite song comes on the playlist. It's not limited to Pastor Sean always picks about your Bible and your perfect cup of coffee and the sunrise, and you know who he's picking on when he says that it's me Rude, but that can't be my only worship. This is my perfect Instagram post.
Speaker 1:The thing is is we can't worship the first 15. We can't do five minutes journaling, a five minute worship song, five minute prayer and then act like an idiot. The rest of the day Act like you ain't never even met Jesus. The rest of the day, act like a fool in car line and have a Jesus loves you sticker on the back of your car. You want to know why Relate doesn't have bumper stickers? It's y'all. It's your very own pastor. He can't have a Relate church bumper sticker. Y'all can tell him. I said that too.
Speaker 1:You see, worship is not just a part of your life, it is your life, and I know what you're thinking. Ange, I'm not a Michael Jackson fan. I'm not a Beyonce fan. I don't even like either president. I don't even talk about politics. I have dodged your entire talk. Well, let's talk about it. Mr Fantasy Football, you know more stats than you do.
Speaker 1:Verses. Come on, master workaholic, you're building your empire and you're losing your family. My single sister looking for her, boaz, her one. The one has already come, sister. Focus on Jesus King. Netflix. One more episode.
Speaker 1:Huh, that's why you can't make it to church. Right, mr Jim? Selfie Got the gains all day, but there's no gratitude. I could go on and on, and the longer I stay here I'll find your thing, because we reflect what we love, we reflect what we chase and we've lost sight of Jesus. The thing is, you are amazing worshipers. I don't have to get up here and say I need you to worship better church. You're killing it at worshiping. You're just not worshiping the one who matters. You've exchanged for the created and forgotten the creator. You wonder why your life looks like chaos? And it's because you put the world on the throne of your heart. You wonder why your family's falling apart because you put your job on the throne of your heart.
Speaker 1:It makes me remember when my kids were little. We lived at the church almost practically 100% of the time. I picked them up for school, we went back to the church. Sometimes we went before school, depending. We were just there. And so when you got little church kids rolling around, you're not watching them. I wasn't watching them. You can judge me, it's fine, I didn't care, they're fine. Where are the kids? I have no idea they're somewhere here, but around Christmas time we had this massive nativity scene. It was like I don't know big, as big as this table, and the baby was real, like a real baby, and my kids thought it was real funny to hide the baby Jesus. Once again, I didn't care. I have things to do, a million things to do.
Speaker 1:Hide the baby Jesus and they would put other things in the manger, and the funniest thing that they would put in the manger is the donkey would be in the manger, because they knew the biblical word for donkey and when you're a little church kid, that's the only time you can cuss. And so they would say I'm not doing it, you're going to get me my dad though it would get him, he'd be so upset. Where's the baby Angela? Where's the baby Jesus? You cannot let them play with the baby Jesus. Notice who's getting in trouble. The funniest part was they would wrap it in a towel. They would wrap baby Jesus in a towel and hide it under a bush, and then we'd all be looking for baby Jesus and the kids. Would they help? No, they would not. So I'm trying to find the baby Jesus. There's a wise man in the manger with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle doll and it's hilarious.
Speaker 1:But that's what we do. We remove the baby Jesus out of the center of our lives and put a donkey there and wonder why the story doesn't make sense. Maybe it's not a donkey, maybe it's your cell phone. Maybe it's spicy novels. You put a spicy novel in the middle of your life and wonder why everything else doesn't add up and it doesn't match of your life and wonder why everything else doesn't add up and it doesn't match. What's your thing? Matthew 6.33 says but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. You're trying so hard to get the right thing in the middle of your story and you've forgotten that when you put the creator in the middle of your story and you've forgotten that when you put the creator in the middle of your story, everything else falls into place. So maybe it's not a donkey on your throne in the center of your story. Maybe it's pride. Nobody can know. I've got it all together. How you doing, I'm doing just fine. I'm blessed, I'm blessed and you lay in bed at night crying because you can't keep it all together. Maybe it's fear If you don't hold on so tight you'll lose everything, but you've got a donkey on the throne of your heart when you really should have Jesus. Because worship is not limited to a segment of time. You can't go all week just worshiping for 60 minutes and then acting however you want the rest of the time, because I promise you, you are worshiping something, something. My third truth for you is true worship is a whole life response.
Speaker 1:There was a woman that met Jesus at the well. She was five husbands deep and I think, in my opinion, she was looking for number six. She saw Jesus roll up in a pretty expensive robe, if you read the word of God, and she thought hello, can I pull your water for you, sir, looking for number six, she realized rather quickly he was not like every other gentleman and so she struck up a conversation with him. She said other gentlemen, and so she struck up a conversation with him. She said, sir, this is in John 4, sir, the woman said I can see that you are a prophet. Can you hear the flirt? I can hear the flirt.
Speaker 1:Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews which, excuse me, pardon me, reframe you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem. She was focused on the, where Jesus replied woman, believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem, you Samaritans. He went right back at her. Did you see? You Samaritans? We wouldn't take that these days. I'll just let you know Worship what you do not know. We worship. What we do know for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming we are living in this time and has now come when the true worshipers there it is again will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the fathers seek.
Speaker 1:The worst trap we can fall into is thinking that worship is just three songs on a Sunday morning, that worship is just three songs on a Sunday morning. We take all of the power out when we don't realize that worship is our entire life, response to the goodness of what God did for us. Your worship is how you treat people. It is as unto the Lord. Your worship is how you respond when you are mistreated. Your worship is how you act in car line. Your worship is how you act when your stinky co-worker comes and sits right next to you at lunch with her tuna fish sandwich. Your worship is how you act when you're on the phone with a poor little lady and she's trying to pay a bill and you are frustrated. Your worship is when someone takes your seat in this room. It's your life response. Is your life responding in worship to the Lord or to something else? Responding in worship to the Lord or to something else?
Speaker 1:Speaking of Carline, my kids are 18 months apart, and so there was a season of my life where I went through Carline four times a day Pray for me church. It was a hard season, and I had two little kiddos who wanted to be picked up first. And so, mama, try to be the first, try to be the first, try to be the first, also working, thank you. And so I would drop Jake off, and then I would drop Grace off another Carline, thank you. And then I try to get there early to get Grace. But you know Mary Sue's been there since eight o'clock. She's the first in Carline. This is not y'all. Y'all still don't do car line, am I that old? So then, all of a sudden, someone tries to cut to get first because their baby wanted them to be first, and then it's a fight. I would like to remind you that we're all at a Baptist school and no one is acting Baptist.
Speaker 1:Worship is how you respond when you're cut off in car line. Worship is how you respond when you're cut off in car line. Worship is how you respond when that teenager looks at you sideways after you bought her a bunch of brand new stuff for school and you want to be like this but you're really like okay. Worship is how you respond when you're ready to go and everyone else is still in their pajamas. Worship is how you respond in this parking lot when you're trying to leave. In a few minutes you see your life preaches louder than your favorite worship song ever will. You are the only Jesus that some people ever meet. You are the only Bible that anyone might read. Do a self-check how you doing. Do they even know? Do they even know that you're a Jesus follower? Is your whole life response worship to God or worship to something else?
Speaker 1:If you only praise God in this room and you don't actually live out the songs that you are singing, I think that's called a performance, because you can stand here all day and say I know the battle is won, you've never failed me yet. And then tonight when you lay down you think I'm never going to survive this or countless other worship songs that you love when they come on KSVJ. But when the battle comes, you immediately lay down You're right, I am, I'm ruined. You're right, but this is my confidence. You sang it Sunday morning. This is my confidence. You never failed me. Yet Hold on. If he never failed you, why are you acting like that? Because it was just a song, it was just a pretty thing you did on Sunday morning. It's not a whole life response. Did on Sunday morning. It's not a whole life response.
Speaker 1:If your worship stops when the song ends, it is a performance, not a lifestyle, because you can't worship God for 70 minutes on a Sunday and Instagram for the rest of the week. That's not how it works. Now, if worship is a whole life response, we cannot treat it casually, because the reason that we respond that way is because Jesus gave his whole life for us. When you truly understand the grace and the glory that was given to you, you can't help but worship. When you truly understand the sacrifice of a Savior who made that call before you even were born. It says he sacrificed himself before we even believed it was. If we maybe didn't even believe, he did it anyways. For the unbeliever and the believer, he sacrificed his very son. When you get that down in your spirit, you can't help but worship with your whole entire life. Truth number four Worship matters. It matters because you become what you worship. You become what you worship. Remember the regolith you shine what you look at. The dust in your very being reflects what you're looking at.
Speaker 1:It's no wonder when the algorithm shows you all the things that you need to buy. All of a sudden, they're in your Amazon cart. It's no wonder that if the algorithm tells you about anxiety and depression, all of a sudden, am I anxious? Am I depressed? It's no wonder if the algorithm tells you that your cortisol is high and that's why you're so stressed out all the time. That's why you're fat. You start thinking my cortisol is high. Hold on, it's raising right now. It's because it's what you've looked at all week long. All your phones are going to show you videos like that because they're all listening right now. It's amazing that all of a sudden, my daughter wants a dog. That's because her algorithm has shown her dogs over and over and over. She wants a dog. She has a dog. His name is Harvey. He lives at my house. Come get your dog. Have you ever thought of something? And it shows up on your phone. That's creepy. Wait, let's not talk about that Moving on, but it's true. How many times I will never forget.
Speaker 1:During COVID, we took a break. Well, we all took a break, didn't we? Sourdough? Sourdough bread was all I could think about. All of a sudden, I had a sourdough starter. I was the proud owner of Doug the sourdough starter. Did anybody else have a sourdough starter? A few of us. That's because that's how all my algorithms said I must have one. I must. Well, what are you watching? What must you have? Because 70 minutes on a Sunday morning will not keep you close to God, even 15 minutes on a Monday morning. Sometimes you need a little more. I don't know where you work, but I know where I work. I need more than 15 minutes.
Speaker 1:You become what you worship. David gives us such a picture of this in Psalms 115. It says why do the nations say where is their God? Our God is in heaven and he does whatever pleases him. I love that he does whatever pleases him. You should that he does whatever pleases him. You should do a study on what pleases God, but their idols are silver and gold made by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, eyes but cannot see. They have ears but cannot hear, noses but cannot smell. They have hands but cannot feel. Noses but cannot smell. They have hands but cannot feel. Feet but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats. And those who make them will be like them, and so will all those who trust him. You will become the mute, deaf and dumb idol that you put on the throne of your heart.
Speaker 1:You become what you worship because you reflect what you look at. Small example, big example. If money is all you can think of and money is your God, then you become like the stock market and money is your God, then you become like the stock market. Stock market's high. We're high, doing well. Look at my retirement. Yes, stock market drops. Oh my God. How am I going to feed my family? Get you fluctuate. If you turn into currency, your value will go up and go down, just like the markets.
Speaker 1:So what do you worship? Pull the thread. What do you love? What do you think about? What is the first thing on your mind when you wake up? What are you fixated on, because whatever is there, whatever that thread comes to, is the throne of your heart and it's sitting right there. Is it your kids? Is it your? Your job? Prestige, climbing the staircase of performance Is it worry? Is it anxiety? Is it fear? Maybe it's pride. Nobody can do it as good as I can. I have to do it all.
Speaker 1:I remember last summer, all I could think about was this parking lot out here and not a lot of you know. But, man, that whole thing was a battle to get that parking lot where you parked this morning. It was all I could think about. It was all how, how badly we were being treated and why couldn't people just be the right way? And this, this and this. And if you talk to me for five seconds, the parking lot was going to get brought up, because that was what was sitting on the throne of my heart. And you see, you need a community who will tell you hey, hey, hey, god's got this, what are you doing? And Sean looked at me and said I don't want to hear the word parking lot ever again. Stop talking about it. Really, you need a community that will tell you hey, snap out of it. He did not. He did not. Somebody just texted him and she said you hit her, it's not true. He did snap me out of it. He said why don't you pray about it every time you think about it? Because right now you're just complaining about it to me and he was sick of it. I'm pretty sure most of you. There's some staff members smiling at me right now because they also were sick of it.
Speaker 1:Pastor Jason, you didn't have to laugh so loud, pastor Jason. You didn't have to laugh so loud. That parking lot was on the throne of my heart. I had stopped asking God to fix it and I was trying to fix it my own way. That's my thing.
Speaker 1:What's yours? Is it Life360? You follow your kids around all the way around, all the way around. Those are God's kids. Trust God with them. Is it your boss? Just got to please your boss got to please your boss? You put Jesus first. You act like a Christ follower. I promise your boss will notice man. That guy always follows through man. He always shows up when he's supposed to. He's kind and faithful and gentle and honest.
Speaker 1:The thing is, you will become what you worship. Whether you want to or not, worshiping is deep down in the fabric of your being Unbeliever or believer. Whatever sits on the throne of your heart will shape the person you become. And, even deeper, whatever sits on the throne of your heart will shape your children. If you're chasing money all their life, they will chase money all their life. If you're chasing men all their life, they will chase men all their life. If you're chasing Jesus all their life, they will chase Jesus all their life. If you're chasing Jesus all their life, they will chase Jesus all their life, because they reflect you. What are you reflecting?
Speaker 1:I would be remiss to not remind you that worship matters, because you only get one shot at this life. You only have one chance to worship him on this earth, and I'm going to give you a chance here, in a second. We're going to play some worship song. We're just going to break it down and have some worship time. Here in a second. We're going to play some worship song. We're just going to. We're just going to break it down and have some worship time, because the thing is is, once we get to heaven, everyone will be worshiping. You can't tell someone about the goodness of God, because they'll be like I know. I'm here too. When I think about that, I think about how excited Jackson is. I'm so excited. The thing is, we got one shot on this earth to tell the goodness of God To point people to Jesus, but if we are so busy worshiping our own selfish natures, we can't point anyone to anywhere.
Speaker 1:It's time for an exchange. It's time to remove the idol off the throne of our heart and put God back where it is. Prayer partners, will you come? I'm going to open the altars. I'm going to ask the prayer partners to come up here. I'm going to make this place a place of prayer for the next few minutes. I want you to stand. I want you to take a moment and exchange whatever the Holy Spirit has been pricking in your heart over the last few minutes.
Speaker 1:There is repentance here. There is Holy Spirit renewal here, because you are full of the breath of God. Whether you're a believer or an unbeliever, the very breath in your lungs is the God Almighty's breath. Don't waste it. You have one shot to worship him with your whole life. Every breath borrowed from God should not be wasted on praising things that cannot save you. It's it's time to exchange the temporary for the eternal, because the thing is, you've given your tears to other things. You've given your joy to other things. But today is exchange day. Today you trade the lesser for the more important. Today is the day that you may get stand and say Jesus is on the throne of my heart. Don't wait for another Sunday. You may not have another Sunday. Today is the day.
Speaker 3:Today, let's worship Hallelujah To worship you, to worship you, I live, to worship you. I live, I live to worship you, to worship you, I live to worship you, I live, I live to worship you, I live to worship you. Yeah, to worship you, I live. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, sing it again. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, sing to worship you, jesus, to worship you, I live, to worship you, I live, I live to worship you, to worship you, I live to worship you. I live, I live to worship you. We worship you, we worship you. To worship you, I live to worship you, I live, I live to worship you. And when you don't have any words, you sing oh, oh, oh, sing, oh, oh, oh, sing it, oh, we worship you, jesus, we sing oh, oh, oh. We worship you, lord, oh, oh, here I am to worship. Here I am, to bow down, here I am to say that you're my God, you're all together lovely, all together worthy, all together wonderful to me. Sing it again, here I am. Here I am to worship, here I am to bow down, here I am to say worship, here I am, all together, wonderful to me sing. Here I am and here I am to worship. Here I am to bow down, here I am to say that you're mine now. You're altogether mighty, altogether worthy, altogether wonderful to me. And I'll never know how much it costs to see my sin upon that cross. I'll never know how much it costs to see my sin upon that cross. Because here I am to worship, here I am to bow, here I am to say that you're my God, you're my God, You're my God, you're altogether lovely, altogether worthy, Altogether wonderful to me. And here I am to worship, here I am to worship you, here I am to love you. Here I am to say that you're my body, you're altogether lovely, altogether worthy, Altogether wonderful to me.
Speaker 3:I give myself away, I give myself away so you can use me. I give myself away, I give myself away so you can use me. I give myself away, oh me, God, I give myself away. Hallelujah, oh me, God, I give myself away, I give myself away. So you? So you, come on, give yourself. I give myself away. Oh, I give myself away, I give myself away. Oh, so you can hear me. I give myself away, I give myself away. So you can hear me One more time I give myself away, I give myself away, so you can use me. I'll never know how much it costs. Thank you, lord. Me, I'll never know how much it cost to see my sins upon that cross.
Speaker 1:The presence of the Lord is here. Hearts are being changed. Put your hand over your heart. Let's pray together before you go.
Speaker 2:Oh dear.
Speaker 1:Jesus, repeat after me. Lord Jesus, I put you back on the throne of my life. Forgive me for every time I've worshipped something else. Wash me clean, renew my mind, set my heart on you. You are my savior. You are my king. I give you my heart, my mind, my thoughts, my desires, my future. From this day forward, I will worship you in spirit and in truth. Shape me in your image. Let my life reflect your glory. In Jesus' name, amen, amen, amen, amen. We are going to worship for a few minutes. We know that you may need to slip out. Go ahead and do that, but we're going to stay around and worship for a few more minutes, and the prayer team will still be up here, so if you need prayer,
